Numerous horses suffer from digestive problems ranging from stomach ulcers, flat manure, manure water to colic.

So we at VitaMinalia were often asked if we have specific products to help horses with digestive problems. We gladly started working with this question to provide an effective, practical and affordable answer. At VitaMinalia we always go for a broad approach for optimal results. VitaMinalia EQUINE DIGEST Aid is a very complete product to tackle various digestive problems and optimize internal health.

How is VitaMinalia EQUINE DIGEST Aid different from other products?

  • First, because of its very complete composition that supports both stomach health, intestinal health, liver function and general resistance.
  • In addition, we make maximum use of natural ingredients, we do not use added sugars, fragrances or flavors.
  • This supplement is very practical to use, everything is pressed into a tasty pellet (pellet) that horses love to eat. No hassle with powders that horses leave behind or sticky liquids that stick to the feeder! We also use the so-called cold pressing technique for pelleting, this improves the stability of the various natural ingredients in the pellets.

In what ways does this supplement address various digestive problems?

  • To prevent stomach ulcers, EQUINE DIGEST Aid contains several buffers, which neutralize excess stomach acid. It also contains various polyphenols and herbs that have a protective effect on the stomach (and intestinal) wall. To promote the recovery of any stomach ulcers, it contains various building blocks of the stomach and intestinal wall such as certain amino acids and nucleotides (from yeasts). Finally, we added some ingredients to reduce stress such as multiple magnesium sources; since stomach ulcers are often caused by increased stress, such as during competitions.
  • To counteract flat manure and manure water, it is important to encourage good microflora in the intestines. Both pro- and prebiotics have been added for this purpose. Probiotics are live microorganisms (in this case live yeasts) that contribute to a healthy microflora in the gut. Prebiotics are a breeding ground for good intestinal bacteria. VitaMinalia EQUINE DIGEST Aid contains fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS, from chicory) and manno-oligosaccharides (MOS, from brewer’s yeast) as prebiotics. Good gut microflora is also important in the prevention (or recovery) of colic.
  • To promote liver function, several natural ingredients have been added such as milk thistle seed, betaine and chicory root.
  • To boost the general resistance, VitaMinalia EQUINE DIGEST Aid contains numerous antioxidants (such as vitamins C, E, organic selenium and polyphenols), vitamins and β-glucans (from brewer’s yeast)

In what situations would you recommend this product and how to use it?

  • Horses prone to gastric ulcers can certainly benefit from this supplement. When recovering from stomach ulcers, it is recommended to provide at least 150 g/horse/day for the first 14 days, afterwards you can switch to a maintenance dose of 75 g/horse/day . Also in periods of increased stress, such as around competitions, it is recommended to provide 150 g/horse/day starting 3 days before the stressful situation.
  • For horses with flat manure or manure water, it is recommended to start with 100 g/horse/day, after 14 days it can be tapered off to 50-75 g/horse/day.
  • EQUINE DIGEST Aid is also extremely suitable after (colic) operations to support the recovery of healthy intestinal flora and general resistance. The first 14 days 150 g/horse/day is recommended, thereafter 50 g/horse/day.
  • In periods of reduced resistance, general poor condition and coat: 100-150 g/horse/day.

What effects can you expect from this product?

Field tests show several positive effects:

  • Horses remain calmer at competitions, experience less stress and continue to eat better on the move
  • Horses with previously flat manure clearly show much better manure consistency
  • Overall, after about 4 weeks we see an improvement in overall physical condition and nicer coat. The condition continues to improve thereafter.
